Mallikarjun Bellubbi, son of the former BJP Minister, S.K. Bellubbi, was taken into custody and later released on Sunday when he tried to prevent Health Minister Shivanand Patil from inaugurating a new tahsildar’s building in Kolar town.
Mr. Bellubbi, who arrived with some farmers and his supporters, accused the government of acquiring land from farmers for a sugar factory but not having cleared payment to them.
An angry Mr. Bellubbi tried to prevent the vehicle of the Minister and was involved in a verbal duel with his gunman and the police. When Mr. Bellubbi did not yield, the police took him into custody.
