The City Civil Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of an accused in the Malleswaram blast case.

The accused, Basheer (30) from Tirunelveli, sold tea powder in Bangalore with his friend Peer Mohideen.

The police had charged Basheer with providing a SIM card to Panna Ismail, another accused, using which they executed the blast in front of the BJP office in Malleswaram on April 17 last year.

Basheer had applied for bail stating that the court has no power to remand or extend the judicial custody of the accused in an unlawful activities case.

Magistrate B. S. Rekha dismissed the petition citing the magnitude of the case. She stated that the matter is still under investigations and many more accused are still at large.
