The New Delhi-based Council of Scientific and Industrial Research will, in the next three years, strive to be an agent of change by developing technologies for national missions.
A resolution to this effect was adopted by the 38 directors of CSIR laboratories at a national meeting held in Dehradun recently.
“We resolve to be a catalytic agent to evolve India into Samarth Bharat, Sashakt Bharath and to achieve global standards,” says one of the statements in the resolution.
The council has decided to develop at least 12 ‘game-changing’ technologies every year, according to a press release from the CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru.
The CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute will be a harbinger of this change in the food sector. Revealing this, CSIR-CFTRI director Ram Rajasekharan said the council wants to “bring confidence to society about the relevance of labs in terms of social impact.”
The director, in a release here, said the national laboratories would also strive to attain financial self-sufficiency adopting a business-like revenue model while focusing on developing entrepreneurship in small, medium and big industries.
