Mahesh foresees no threat to stability of coalition

Dismissing the war of words between JD(S) State president A.H. Vishwanath and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as their individual statements, JD(S) leader and Minister for Tourism S.R. Mahesh on Tuesday said there was no threat to the stability of the coalition government headed by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, Mr. Mahesh said he did not wish to react to the statements of the two leaders, but added that there was no vacancy for the post of CM in the coalition government put in place by JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

‘No change in State politics after May 23’

That Mr. Siddaramaiah should become the CM again is the view expressed by some Congress leaders, but such a situation can arise only after the next elections. For the next four years, Mr. Kumaraswamy will remain CM. He ruled out the possibility of any change in State politics even after the May 23 results of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls and added that changes would take place only at the Centre.

Expressing confidence of JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy winning in Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Mahesh said JD(S) would romp home to victory with more than one lakh votes. He ruled out the possibility of the outcome of polls in Mandya having a bearing on the coalition government.
