A mela to provide loan for entrepreneurs under the Pradhan Mantri Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) scheme was launched in Hassan on Thursday.

The scheme offers loans up to Rs. 10 lakh for entrepreneurs. The loan mela was inaugurated at a programme organised by the Hassan Zilla Panchayat and Canara Bank, the lead bank here. Three loan schemes are being offered to entrepreneurs under the scheme – Shishu scheme offers loan up to Rs. 50,000; Kishore scheme loan up to Rs. 5 lakh; and up to Rs. 10 lakh in the Tarun scheme.

Patel Shivaram, MLC, appealed to beneficiaries to make better use of the scheme and contribute towards the economic growth of the country. He also suggested that bankers offer loan to eligible applicants so that benefits of the scheme reach more entrepreneurs.
