Learning Kannada duty of all people in State: Khader

Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader has said that learning Kannada is the duty of all people residing in Karnataka.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Rajyotsava programme at Gadnhi Park here on Friday. He termed the works of litterateurs such as Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, Kuvempu and D.V. Gundappa a big asset for the people of the State. People should put to practice values espoused by such writers, he said.

District administration, Kolar City Municipal Council and Jai Bhuvaneshwari Kannada Sangha had jointly organised the programme.

MLC D.S. Veeraiah, Deputy Commissioner D.K. Ravi, Kolar Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer S.M. Zulfikar Ullah and Superintendent of Police Ram Nivas Sepat were among those who participated.

Several tableaux were taken out in a procession in which cultural troupes also participated as part of the celebrations.
