A late night fire mishap in an electric shop created panic among the residents of the apartment, which was in the same building as the shop, in Hubballi on Saturday night.

The fire was noticed at around midnight in the electrical shop, owned by Javed Abdul Razak located on Myadar Oni. As the fire spread and engulfed the electric shop, the residents of the adjoining residential apartment panicked and rushed out of the apartment.

Soon fire fighters and two fire engines were pressed into service and the fire brigade personnel were able to douse the fire.

According to the police, short-circuit may have caused the fire. While the fire brigade personnel were engaged in dousing the fire, the police led by Town Police Inspector Shamarao Sajjan evacuated the other occupants from the apartment and prevented curious onlookers from getting too close to the building. No one was injured in the mishap.
