Traffic was blocked for about three hours due to a landslide on National Highway 66 at Othinane near Byndoor in Udupi district on Wednesday.

Santosh Kaikini, Sub inspector of Byndoor police station told The Hindu ' that traffic got blocked due to landslide on a hilly area at Othinane at around 5.30 a.m. Though there was a parallel road. it could not be used for heavy vehicles. This led to traffic jam. The traffic had now been cleared, he said.

The widening works of NH66 are going on in the area. The soil had become loose due to rain and resulted in landslide, he said.
