Unleashing an attack on Congress–JD(S) alliance government in the State, BJP national president Amit Shah on Thursday said that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy was loyal not to the people of the State, but to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
He was addressing a public rally here. Mr. Shah, however, was silent on the controversial audio recording that has caught the BJP on the back foot in the State, and has led to an FIR being registered against party’s State unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa.
“The man with fewest seats has become the Chief Minister and the largest party is sitting in the Opposition. Kumaraswamy says that he became the Chief Minister not because of people, but because of Sonia Gandhi. He says that he is responsible not to the people of Karnataka, but to the Congress,” he said.
Clearly indicating that Ram Mandir in Ayodhya would be one of the major issues of his party’s Lok Sabha election campaign, Mr. Shah, in an attempt to corner the Congress on the issue, asked AICC president Rahul Gandhi to make his stand clear on the matter before the polls.
“The BJP is committed to building Ram Mandir on the same spot in Ayodhya. I would like to know whether or not the Congress and the JD(S) want Ram Mandir on the same place. I would like to ask Rahul baba to make his stand clear before the people of the country ahead of the polls,” he said.
