The Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association wants to construct a community hall with the donations made by employees for the 81st Kannada Sahitya Sammelan to be held at Shravanbelgola in Channarayapatna taluk in February.

The association’s Hassan district unit has resolved to contribute one-day’s salary of government employees for the purpose. However, it has put a rider that half of members’ contribution shall be diverted to State association for the construction of a community hall. Meanwhile, having decided to hold the sammelan at Shravanbelgola on February 1, 2 and 3, the Kannada Sahitya Parishat has appealed to various organisations and local bodies to donate money for the smooth conduct of sammelan. The district association has agreed to contribute one-day’s salary of all its 33,000 members, albeit with a condition that 50 per cent of the total collection would be utilised for the community hall.
