Members of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) conducted a bike rally from Bangarpet to Kolar on Friday demanding more compensation to farmers who gave land to the Chennai-Bengaluru Express Corridor project. The protesters also sought a CBI investigation in to the alleged irregularities in Yergol dam project.

The KRRS said ₹ 1.25 crore per acre should be given to farmers who parted with their land. Officials, contractors and people’s representatives have siphoned off crores of rupees in the Yergol project. Though it was launched in 2006 it was not completed yet, the organisation alleged.

The protesters concluded the bike rally at the Deputy Commissioner’s office where they submitted a memorandum to DC G. Sathyavathy. She assured the delegation that all details about the project will be gathered by the authorities concerned within a week.
