Criticising the lethargic attitude of the Department of Public Instruction authorities in controlling the donation menace in private schools in the district, the functionaries of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) staged a protest in front of DDPI’s office in the town on Friday.
The authorities have failed in ensuring the display of boards about the government fees structures at the private schools and cancellation of licence to the schools which are running without infrastructures, the protesters alleged.
DDPI’s points fingers at subordinates
DDPI S.V. Padmanabh, who came to the protesting venue, expressed his helplessness in the matter. “The Block Education Officers are playing as puppets in the hands of private school managements and are not obeying my instructions in implementing government orders in connection with controlling donation menace”, Mr. Padmanabh said.
He assured that a meeting will be convened on April 22 and will submit a report to the Deputy Commissioner.
KRRS State vice-president K. Srinivasa Gowda, student leader Uma Gowda participated among others.
SFI memorandum
The Students Federation of India (SFI) district unit also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner demanding stringent measures against private schools for collecting hefty fees and donations against government rules.
It demanded that a District Education Regulating Committee be constituted to put a break on exploitation of parents from clutches of private managements. District SFI secretary V. Amaresh led the delegation.
