Krishi Abhiyana at Sirsi

A Krishi Abhiyana will be held in Sirsi taluk from Monday to boost the self-confidence of draught-hit farmers, Assistant Director of Agriculture K.V. Kurse said in a release on Saturday.

The abhiyana would be held at farmer contact centres at Sirsi, Janmane, Banavasi and Hulekal hoblis and would continue till November 11. The officials of the Agriculture Department would interact with farmers and also give information about the use of modern technology in agriculture, he said. The department had sought Rs. 3.5 crore as compensation for 6,034 farmers who had lost paddy crops on 5,280 hectares, he said.
