Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara has welcomed the decision to ban mobile phones in the Legislative Assembly and Council.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Dr. Parameshwara welcomed the Speaker’s decision of suspending Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Prabhu Chavan for one day. He said the Speaker has also warned Minister for Housing M.H. Ambareesh and S.S. Mallikarjun, MLA, for using their mobile phones in the House.

He said the House is there to discuss issues related to the people alone and hence the Speaker has taken the right decision.

Answering a query on the complaint made against Mr. Ambareesh by Mandya party workers, Dr. Parameshwara said he has not received any written complaint against the Minister.

He said the Congress party workers’ convention, to be held at Belagavi on December 21, has been cancelled as the festival ‘Yellu Amavasye’ is celebrated in a big way on December 21 and 22.
