Rajya Sabha member and BJP leader Prabhakar Kore has dared Congress MLA Lakshmi Hebbalkar to disclose details of the offer she allegedly got from BJP for switching sides.
This follows Ms. Hebbalkar’s charge that some BJP leaders had tried to make her quit the Congress and join the BJP by offering her ₹30 crore and promised to make her a Minister, before the JD(S)-Congress coalition government was formed.
“The BJP does not need to poach any MLA from any other party. It is the biggest political party in the world with the largest number of workers,” Mr. Kore told presspersons. “BJP has not offered money to anyone, nor have I,’’ he clarified to a question. He dismissed Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s allegation that Mr. Kore was among the BJP leaders who were trying to win over Congress and JD(S) MLAs. “Mr. Kumaraswamy is not yet politically mature. That is why he makes such statements, rather than focus on administration,” he contended.
Mr. Kore alleged that JD(S) and Congress leaders were making false charges against the BJP as they were unable to run the government. “Leaders of these two parties are desperate to blame us for their failure to administer the State. Anyway, fall of the coalition government is imminent. And when it falls, we will take over as we are the biggest party in the State and have the largest number of MLAs,” he said.
