Kodagu student’s death: Police book case of murder

The Kushalnagar police have booked a case of murder in connection with the death of the Sainik School student, who died under mysterious circumstances on Saturday. “We are still awaiting the post-mortem report,” said Superintendent of Kodagu district police Rajendra Prasad.

A class 9 student of Sainik School in Kushal Nagar, N.P. Chingappa was found unconscious in the washroom of the school on Saturday evening after the school authorities reprimanded him for indiscipline. He was later declared dead at the primary health centre, where he was rushed to.

A case of murder has been booked on the basis of a complaint by the boy’s father, N.T. Poovaiah, who is a hockey coach in the same school.

“We have booked a case of murder on the basis of the complaint,” said Mr. Rajendra Prasad.

A case of murder has been booked against the five staff members of the school named by the complainant.
