The kiosk for providing the public with information about the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act, popularly known as Sakala scheme, was opened on the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday.

The kiosk has been set up by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms and the software support has been provided by the National Informatics Centre.

The kiosk has a personal computer system with an interactive touch screen. The users can obtain information on all the 669 services offered by the State government under the Sakala scheme through the kiosk.

Information displayed on the computer monitor include methods of filling an application for the services offered under Sakala, documents to be furnished along with the application, contact details of the authorities concerned and the time-frame prescribed for the disposal of applications. Users can even check the status of their applications.

On request, an acknowledgement slip, with a unique 15-digit number called Guarantee of Services to Citizens (GSC), will be provided to applicants. Deputy Comissioner V.P. Ikkeri, who launched the kiosk, said Shivamogga was in the 10th position in the list of districts, which had implemented the Sakala scheme.

The district administration was encouraging people to apply for the services offered by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Revenue and Social Welfare departments under the Sakala programme to ensure speedy responses, he said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Nagaraj was present.
