KHB ordered to pay relief to consumer

The Hassan District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, in response to a complaint filed by a customer, who purchased a house from the Karnataka Housing Board, ordered the board to pay a compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the buyer.

H.S. Madhuchandra, resident of Hassan, had purchased a Middle Income Group (MIG) house at Hassan for Rs. 16.17 lakh in 2010. Within a few months of purchasing it, walls of the house developed cracks. He complained with the board officials about the poor quality of construction, which did not evoke any response. Later, he moved the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum against the KHB. The forum ordered the KHB to pay Rs. 50,000 as relief to the buyer within six weeks.
