District unit of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (KDSS) has demanded the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to take necessary measures to solve the problems of Dalit communities in the district.

The outfit adopted a resolution in this connection at a meeting held in Inspection Bunglow on Thursday.

The committee charged the district administration and police have been apathetic towards the growing atrocities against Dalits.

False cases

The KDSS alleged that false cases have been registered against the Dalits when they visited Mulbagal Tahasildar’s office to enquire about the caste certificate issue pertaining to local MLA G. Manjunath’s brother G. Venkataramana.

KDSS district convener Soolikunte Ramesh warned dharnas will be conducted in front of offices of Deputy Commissioner and SP if no action were initiated to prevent atrocities on Dalits.
