Karwar MLA gets anticipatory bail

June 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:45 am IST - Bengaluru:

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to Karwar MLA Satish Krishna Sail who approached it apprehending his arrest in view of the summons issued to him by the Special Court for CBI cases in connection with trial in cases related to transportation of illegally-mined iron ore from the Belekeri port.

The CBI had opposed his plea for anticipatory bail while alleging that Mr. Sail, accused in the case, had refused to accept summons from the CBI court and hence, trial could not be commenced.

Justice A.V. Chandrashekhara has, in his order, also directed Mr. Sail to surrender before the CBI court by June 30 and cooperate with the process of law.
