A few prominent actors in State politics are now paving the way for their sons’ entry into films. This appears to be a new trend at a time when most politicians groom their children to take up the baton from them.

The former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and former Ministers N. Cheluvarayaswamy and H.M. Revanna are all set to launch their sons in films. Bitten by the movie bug, Nikhil Gowda Kumaraswamy, Sachin Cheluvarayaswamy and Anup Revanna are bent upon making acting their career.

While Mahadev, assistant of S.S. Rajamouli of Bahubali fame, is directing Nikhil’s Jaguar , R. Chandru of Tajmahal fame is launching Anup in Lakshmana . Mahesh Sukhadare, who made Ambareesha , is directing Sachin in Happy Birthday . Both Lakshmana and Happy Birthday are being launched this Friday.

The former Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan is also planning to launch his son Zaid Khan’s film career.

Mr. Kumaraswamy is leaving no stone unturned to see his son’s success in the film industry as he is launching Nikhil under his home banner, Channambika Films. According to sources, the film is set to be launched in August. Mr. Rajamouli’s father, K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, a well-known scriptwriter in Telugu films, has written the story of Jaguar .

Nikhil, who is getting trained from the past few months, is doing four short films to get a grip over acting. He will be leaving for Bangkok soon to get trained in stunts. He is also set to improve his dancing skills from the best choreographers of south India. In fact, he himself wants to do the dubbing for the film. There are plans to dub Jaguar in Tamil and Telugu.

Nikhil, who got engaged to producer K.C.N. Mohan’s daughter Swathi last month, has an added advantage, as K.C.N. Movies is a big banner in the Kannada industry and is known for its landmark films.

An automobile engineering student, Anup Revanna said acting in films has been his “childhood dream”. Mr. Chandru, their family friend, took the responsibility of launching him.

“My dream will come true on Friday,” he said.

And what about politics? “I have interest in politics. I may enter politics in future… I don’t know,” he said.

As Mr. Sukhadare has advised Sachin against speaking to the media, the budding actor just said that he had had training for the last one year in Bengaluru and Mumbai.
