Kannada Bhavan to come up in Sorab

District unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) has organised a programme to lay the foundation stone for the construction of Kannada Bhavan, a convention hall, at Sorab on October 26.

In a press release issued here on Saturday, D. Manjunath, president of the district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, said that the State government had granted a 1 acre and 30 gunta-plot, adjacent to taluk stadium in Sorab, for the proposed construction of Kannada Bhavan.

Grants

While the Kannada Development Authority had sanctioned Rs. 10 lakh as grant for the project, the Department of Kannada and Culture had granted another Rs. 5 lakh for the construction of the bhavan at Sorab, Mr. Manjunath said in the press release.

The Kannada Sahitya Parishat had proposed to organise literary and cultural programmes at the venue after the bhavan comes up.

MLA to innaugurate

Madhu Bangarappa, Sorab MLA, will lay the foundation stone for the project on October 26.

The programme related to the foundation laying ceremony will commence at 9.30 a.m., the release said.

The government has allotted one acre and thirty guntas for the proposed building.
