Kalikamba Temple burgled

A gang of persons broke into the Kalikamba Temple at Kuchur village near Barkur in Udupi district and escaped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 4 lakh.

According to the police, the gang broke into the temple between 9.30 p.m. on June 25 and 6.20 a.m. on June 26. They removed 14 kg of silver stuck to the door of the sanctum sanctorum and also stole gold and silver ornaments used for deity. A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station and investigation is on, the police said. Sources in the police department said that they were examining footage of CCTV cameras installed in the temple.
