Kalaburagi to host inter-State meeting of police officials

Sunil Agarwal, Inspector-General of Police (North Eastern Range), has said that an inter-State meeting of IGPs of six ranges in Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra will be held soon to exchange information related to movement of criminals and activities of anti-social elements and suspected terrorists.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the meeting of IGPs of the north eastern range of Karnataka; Kolhapur, Solapur, and Nanded ranges in Maharashtra; Hyderabad in Telangana; and Rayalaseema South range in Andhra Pradesh would be held in Kalaburagi within a month.

To a question on the Medak police putting up posters containing portraits of two suspected terrorists, who had escaped after firing on the police in Nalgonda district in Telangana last month, in Yadgir and Bidar districts, Mr. Agarwal said he was aware of it.

He said that there was nothing wrong in putting up such posters in the neighbouring districts.

Mr. Agarwal, however, hastened to add that it did not mean that these terrorists had crossed over to Karnataka or were taking shelter in the State. As per intelligence inputs, these terrorists had not crossed over to Karnataka, he said.
