Two pilgrims were killed on the spot and one suffered serious injuries when the van in which they were travelling fell into a roadside ditch near Indira Nagar at Deval Ganagapur village in Afzalpur taluk in Kalaburagi after the driver lost control in the early hours of Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Sridhar S. Gurugode (45) and Pandurang N. Mahad (38) from Bablegaon village in Indapur taluk of Pune district of Maharashtra.

The condition of the injured, V. Praveen, who is admitted in a private hospital in Kalaburagi, is said to be serious.

According to the police, the victims were on their way to the famed Dattatreya temple of Deval Ganagapur for the Magh Utsav celebrations.
