Despite the nationwide bandh, students who had to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019 on Wednesday made it to their assigned test centres.
It was for the first time that JEE Main was conducted online. Starting this year, the Ministry of Human Resource Development had decided to conduct JEE Main twice — one in January and another in April. Students who attempted the exam on Wednesday said the date coincided with their preparatory exams for the boards, giving them less time for preparations.
Students and coaching class centres said the question paper was moderately difficult. Gagan Hegde, Deeksha Centre For Learning PU College said, “The maths part of the paper was lengthy, while the physics and chemistry section was from the syllabus, with a few questions demanding critical thinking. On the whole it was a good paper.”
Sridhar G., Founder-MD, Deeksha, said, “Despite the bandh across Karnataka, it is heartening to see that the exams were conducted smoothly, with no glitches whatsoever. As expected, the maths section was the lengthiest and required more than just applying formulae directly. Physics and chemistry sections saw most questions from the NCERT syllabus. Moreover, significant weightage was given to the I PU syllabus. No errors were reported.”
