JD(S)’ paddy transplantation programme begins in Mandya

Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's much-hyped paddy seedlings transplantation programme began at Seethapura, Pandavapura taluk, of the district on Saturday.

The programme, originally scheduled to begin at 11 am, started at 1.50 pm since the Chief Minister arrived late. Mr. Kumaraswamy inaugurated the programme by transplanting seedlings, which was continued by as many as 150 labourers, including 120 women.

The private programme was organised by the Janata Dal (Secular) saw some officials attending it.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he would launch a programme of spending one day in a month with farmers. “I will also visit/stay with villagers in their hamlets for a full day in a month in every district,” he said.

The government will give “good news” to the people by the Ganesha Chaturthi festival, Mr. Kumaraswamy said seeking “some time” from the farmers/people to solve their problems and fulfill their expectations.

The MLAs from Mandya and Mysuru district, and party workers were present in the event.
