Within a few days of criticising his party leader H.D. Kumaraswamy, Janata Dal (Secular) MLA and former Minister S.R. Srinivas on Sunday said he was not going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking to reporters in Tumakuru on Sunday, Mr. Srinivas denied speculations that his remarks at Mr. Kumaraswamy were an indication of him getting ready to join the BJP. “Only those who are insane will join the BJP,” he said and added that he had made his stand clear to Mr. Kumaraswamy.

Mr. Srinivas said the disqualified MLAs seem to have lost their political bearing and do not know what to do next.

He indirectly took a dig at Law Minister J.C. Madhuswamy, who had defended Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi by saying that watching an adult video in the Assembly was not treason.

“No decent person will support Mr. Savadi’s act,” he said.
