June 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Hassan:

The Legal Services Authority, in association with the Hassan district administration, will celebrate the World Environment Day here on Saturday by launching a drive to increase the greenery around the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus-stand.

“The Forest Department has launched a drive to make the bus-stand look green this year,” said R.J. Satish Singh, District and Sessions Judge, here on Friday.

Saplings to be planted

Mr. Satish Singh said that saplings would be planted in the vacant land around the bus-stand, before taking out a ‘jatha’ to spread awareness on the need to conserve nature for posterity.

“Judges, advocates, district-level officials and schoolchildren will participate in the jatha, which will pass through the main streets here. Later, a public function will be held at Hasanamba Kalakshetra,” the judge said.

Principal Senior Civil Judge Saraswathi Vishnu Kosandar, Deputy Conservator of Forests Ganesh S. Bhat and Environment Officer Shivakumar were present.
