Janandalonagala Mahamaitri, a congregation of progressive organisations will organise a Statewide jatha to create public awareness on the need for transformative politics (radical and inclusive) from April 17 to 27.
S.R. Hiremath, president, Samaj Parivarthana Samudaya, who is one of the key organisers of this campaign, told presspersons that the jatha would be flagged off at Mandya and concluded at Raichur.
The main objective of the campaign was to create greater awareness among the public to bring in desired changes in politics by strengthening democracy and the central place for common people. Changing the mindset of the people was the main purpose of this campaign.
Public meetings will be held at several places in the State and several eminent persons will take part and sensitise the people, he added.
Fighting corruption
Besides focusing on the need for addressing issues such as the agrarian crisis, unemployment, corruption and commercialisation of education and health, the campaign would also call for a social boycott of corrupt elected representatives, Mr. Hiremath said.
