Jail inmate dies in hospital

The city police are trying to locate the relatives of an inmate of Mysuru Centrail jail, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, after he died at a hospital in the city.

Ramaraj alias Ramanarayan, 45, was serving a prison term at Mysuru jail ever since a court in Channarayapatna in Hassan district sentenced him to life on August 16, 2014, in a murder case.

On October 21, 2019, he complained of chest pain and dizziness. Around 6.20 a.m., he was rushed to Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology where he died at 8.45 a.m.

The Mandi police registered a case of unnatural death and tried to contact his relatives at the address available in the records. But, they were unable to find his kith or kin, relatives or friends at the address, given as Padri Bazaar, Burdevan Main Road, Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh.

Ramaraj’s body has been kept at the mortuary of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute.
