‘It is incorrect to say we have misused land’

June 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Manipal:

On the allegation that it had misused land, G.K. Prabhu, Registrar of Manipal University, in a press release on Thursday, said it was incorrect to say the university has not used the land to build infrastructure for educational purposes. “Every piece of land has been used for the purpose of education for which it was given to us about 50 years ago,” he said.

“We will seek clarification from the department concerned as it has been brought to our notice only today. The buildings existing on the property are all authorised constructions. We have sought permission and obtained licence from the authority concerned for all work. All buildings existing are constructed legally by obtaining commencement certificate, licence; we even have obtained occupancy certificate and door numbers from the municipality,” he said.
