Inter-caste mass marriage on May 9

The Vishwamanava Vichara Vedike has organised the marriage of persons of different castes and communities at Raitha bhavan in Mandya on Monday on the occasion of Basava Jayanti celebrations.

Over 300 couples have registered for the inter-caste mass marriage event.

Hullukere Mahadeva, Urga Narasimha Gowda and Mallige, vedike activists, said that incidents of honour killing were on the rise and added that the vedike wanted to create a feeling of unity and therefore the inter-caste marriage at Mandya.

Ravivarmakumar will inaugurate a programme “Jathimuktha Manasugala Sammelana”. Devanur Mahadev, H.L. Keshavamurthy, Ugra Narasimhe Gowda, B.T. Vishwanath, Sunanda Jayaram, M.C. Shivaraj are among others who are expected to take part in the programme. Mallige of Mahila Munnede, will deliver introductory remarks.

There will be a technical session on inter-caste marriages.

Later couples will share their experiences.
