Inquiry sought on fund misuse

Members of Dalit Panther of India on Monday picketed the office of the Chief Executive Office of Kalaburagi Zilla Panchayat demanding an inquiry against alleged irregularities in the utilisation of funds by officials of the Social Welfare Department for providing facilities for Backward Classes and Minorities (BCM) hostels in the district.

State president of the organisation Mallappa M. Hosamani said hostel authorities and officials from the Social Welfare Department were producing fake bills and misusing the funds allocated to provide facilities for students of the district’s BCM hostels.

He demanded an inquiry into the matter. and said stringent action should be taken against the officials involved in the irregularities.
