Incident unlikely to impact Haris’ ticket prospects

The Congress is unlikely to deny ticket in the coming Assembly elections to party MLA N.A. Haris, father of Mohammed Nalapad Haris who is in jail facing the charge of assaulting Vidvat L.

“The case involving Nalapad and Mr. Haris getting ticket are entirely different things. We will consult people through our observers. There’s a process and if Mr. Haris comes through this process, he will get ticket,” KPCC president G. Parameshwara said. Mr. Haris is a second-time MLA for Shantinagar constituency in Bengaluru.

A couple of days ago, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala had hinted that ticket would not be denied to Mr. Haris. He wondered why Mr. Haris should pay for his son’s crime.
