In this village, no one wants to contest!

In an interesting twist to the gram panchayat elections in Kolar district where voting is scheduled on June 2, one of the villages has seen all twelve candidates withdrawing from the fray.

As many as twelve nomination papers have been filed for the three seats in Kadaripura village under Kurudumale gram panchayat in Mulbagal taluk. However, according to election officer M. Muniraju, all the twelve candidates have withdrawn their papers on Monday, the last day for the process.

One seat each was reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman), Backward Classes and Minorities - B (BCM-B) and General (Woman). But as more people belonging to BCM-A category were living in the village, the residents felt the quota fixed as unjust and unanimously decided to get all nomination papers withdrawn, leaving authorities in a fix.
