I will transform village, says transgender GP winner

A transgender who made it to the Gram Panchayat from Gubbi taluk in Tumakuru is dreaming to reach a higher position in the political field.

30-year-old Fasanulla has been elected as the GP member to Kunnala GP in Gubbi taluk in recent elections. Coming from a humble background, Fasanulla, resident of Chakenahalli in Gubbi taluk contested the elections to work for people. With the aim of developing her village in all aspects, she pointed out that the village lacks basic amenities like drinking water, drainages and roads. She has entered the field of politics to serve the society and help the poor.

A standard six drop-out also wants education for children. She says she has to stop going to school as she had to work to help her poor parents.

Owner of a small tea shop in the village, she looks after her family with the earnings from the tea shop.

Fasanulla says, “I will contest in the Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat elections in the coming days.”
