Hundreds of people participated in the ‘Run for Democracy’ programme organised to raise awareness on the importance of voting during the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Organised by Mysuru City Corporation, Hotel Owners’ Association of Mysuru and others, the 3 km run was flagged off from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple on Saturday. It ended at Town Hall.
The president of the association Narayana Gowda expressed hoped that the turnout of voters would be higher in view of the many programmes organised on voter awareness. The association had also conducted programmes to discourage people from going on holidays and skipping elections.
Among the dignitaries were historian B. Sheikh Ali, humorist Krishna Gowda and theatre personality Mandya Ramesh.
Balakrishna, Police Commissioner; K. Jyothi, Mysuru ZP CEO; Shilpa Nag, MCC Commissioner; Ambadi Madhav, Chief Conservator of Forests; and Kuldeep Narayan, General Observer in Mysuru Lok Sabha, were present.
