Minister for Public Works C.M. Udasi on Monday agreed to the demand in the Legislative Assembly for a House Committee probe into the alleged irregularities in entrusting piece works in his department to contractors, violating Transparency Act.

Replying to a call attention motion by Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah, the Minister said that such incidents would be entrusted to chief engineers, but when the latter stuck to his demand, he and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S. Suresh Kumar agreed to constitute a House Committee.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that manual tenders had been given in violation of the Transparency Act.
