Hospital on wheels arrives in Ballari

Lifeline Express, the hospital on wheels of the Impact Foundation of India, has arrived in Ballari to provide medical care, treatment and surgeries from July 23 to August 7. This is for the first time that the express has come to Ballari, after it was introduced in 1991.

Deputy Commissioner Ramprasath Manohar, who heads the committee to extend all coordination and support, told presspersons on Friday that medical services to needy in various specialities, including cataract, ear, dental, orthopaedics, screening for detection of breast, oral and cervical cancer, treatment for epilepsy, surgery for cleft lip and stroke prevention will be offered.

“The services will be provided free by experts coming from various parts of the State on the scheduled dates.

The District Health and Family Welfare department has already prepared a data base of the needy patients and will be intimated to avail the facilities. Around 80 beds have been reserved for the post operative treatment,” he said, adding that screening would be done at the community hall within the precincts of Ballari Railway station and needy patients would be referred to the respective department for further treatment.

An eye clinic will be held between July 23 to 28, breast and cervical cancer detection between July 24 to 31, epilepsy treatment between July 28 and 29, peadiatric orthopaedic surgeries, cleft lip from August 4 to 7.
