Hosagunda utsav from today

A three-day cultural fest – Hosagunda Utsav – will be held at the premises of the renovated Uma Maheshwara temple in Hosagunda village in Sagar taluk from November 16 to 18. It will be organised by Sree Uma Maheshwara Seva Trust comprising village residents who had taken the initiative to do the renovation work.

In a press release, C.M.N. Shastry, managing trustee, said that on November 16, a seminar on the contributions of the Santhara kingdom that ruled Hosagunda has been organised from 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be followed by a performance by humourist Gangavathi Pranesh and troupe from 6 p.m.

A training programme for farmers on organic farming will be held on November 17 from 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Singers Hanumantha, Suhana Syed and troupe will enthral the audience with film, folk and devotional songs from 6 p.m.

An expedition to the Devarakadu forest in the vicinity of the temple will be conducted on November 18 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to create awareness on the rich bio-diversity of the region. In the evening, the performance by mridangam artiste Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and saxophone artiste Sridhar Sagar will begin at 6 p.m. It will be followed by a Yakshagana show by artistes of Sigandur Mela, he said.
