Revenue Minister and district-in-charge R.V. Deshpande has appealed to bankers and other financial institutions to support first generation entrepreneurs by liberally extending financial assistance to them for executing business ideas.

Inaugurating the two-day annual entrepreneurship summit TiECON-2019 organised on the themes of ‘Embrace Disruption’ and ‘Women Conclave’ here on Friday, Mr. Deshpande said according to an estimate, India would be the country with highest young population by 2025 and the biggest challenge would be ensuring quality human resources.

Emphasising on the need for the youth to take up self employment, he said while it was all right to seek jobs, they should also become entrepreneurs as this would multiply jobs. Appealing to financial institutions, he said their role was crucial particularly for first generation entrepreneurs as they lacked resources.

Appreciating the work of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), Hubballi Chapter, with budding entrepreneurs, he said mentoring with more focus on youngsters was needed for the country to prosper. He also spoke on policies framed by the State government to encourage start-ups, IT and BT. He explained how development of KIA in Bengaluru had improved the economy.

Jagadish Shettar, former Chief Minister, spoke on how infrastructure development in and around Hubballi had resulted in it becoming a centre of industrial and business activities in North Karnataka. He said there was a need for more entrepreneurs and industrialists to look outside Bengaluru and move to tier-2, tier-3 cities to contribute towards the overall development of the State.
