Heavy rain forecast in Kodagu

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder has been forecast in Kodagu on Friday and Saturday.

Quoting the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Information Department, Kodagu, in a release here on Thursday, said over 64 mm rainfall on Friday and 115 mm and above rainfall on Saturday had been predicted.

In the last 24 hours, Kodagu received 8.23 mm rainfall. Some parts of Kodagu had recorded moderate rain over the last few days.

The Kodagu district administration on Thursday evening appealed to the people of Korangala and Cherangala villages in Bhagamandala Gram Panchayat limits to be on alert and move to safer places in view of the IMD’s forecast.

The district administration said it was prepared to handle rain-related emergencies in Kodagu and had taken steps in anticipation of heavy rain following low pressure area in southeast the Arabian Sea.
