Grant sought for academy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been requested to provide grants to the Academy of Comparative Philosophy and Religion located in a temple named after Gurudeo Ramachandra Dattatreya Ranade, here.

Academy secretary M.B. Zirali, submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister during his short visit to Belagavi on Saturday . The academy headquarters was inaugurated by the former President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan in 1965 in Belagavi. It has been hosting discussions and debates on spirituality since then. However, due to paucity of funds, the academy is not able to fulfil its objectives and need government support to develop basic infrastructure, he added.
