As many as 242 members have been elected unopposed to various gram panchayats in Mysuru district. Of the 266 gram panchayats in the district, there are 1,849 constituencies and 4,744 seats.

Graphics sheets will be used to count votes and the results of the gram panchayat elections may be delayed owing to this, say sources in the election branch at the Deputy Commissioners’ office.

As many as 266 Returning Officers (ROs) and 293 Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have assigned the job of electioneering. Also, 8,424 officers have been appointed to conduct the polls. The ROs and AROs were given the first round of training a few days ago. A total of 13,92,179 voters, including 7,10,101 male and 6,82,078 female, will exercise their franchise.

The Police Commissioner and Superintendent of Police were requested to furnish details of the number of sensitive and hypersensitive constituencies.
