October 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - RAICHUR:

Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya said that the State government had planned to open 100 hostels for students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. He was speaking to mediapersons in Lingasugur, Raichur district, on Sunday.

“Our government is committed to the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward communities. Our aim is to provide hostel accommodation to every student from these communities who applied. Keeping in mind the growing requirement of more hostels, we have decided to open 100 new hostels in the State. We are providing Rs. 1,500 for each students every month for food and accommodation. They need not go to the doorsteps of any politicians seeking financial help,” he said.

Mr. Anjaneya added that that, in order to eliminate possible corruption at local level, the government had started to call district level tender for procuring requirements of the hostel.
