The job mela organised by Adichunchangiri Mutt of Hassan received an impressive response on Saturday. Hundreds of youths from Hassan, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts stood in long queues with applications in the job mela in which over 80 companies were in attendance.

The mutt organised the mela as part of two-day programme in memory of late Balagangadharanatha Swami. As the enrolment began, hundreds of youths stood in the queue in front of Adichunchangiri School on M.G. Road.

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture A. Manju, while addressing the youths, said skills were important for one's career. "No matter how many degrees you obtain, developing a skill that employers look for is important,” he said.

Many people migrate to big cities to earn low salaries. They work hard in garment industries and get low pay. “But they can earn more if they stay put in villages and take up dairy. Karnataka is the second largest milk producer in the country because of our ancestors, who gave importance to dairy. Now, many are giving up lucrative jobs to start dairy farms,” he added.

Nirmalanandanatha Swami of Adichunchanagiri Mutt called upon youths to not lose confidence if they fail to get a job offer in the job mela. “If you don't get a job today, tomorrow you will. Don't lose confidence. You keep on improving your skills, attitude and communicative language,” he said.

Hassan MLA H.S. Prakash, MLC Gopalaswamy and others were present. Among the companies who participated in the job mela were Bosch, TCS, Magnasoft, Aravind Ltd, Navabharat Fertilizers.
