The decision to install the statue of Tamil poet Tiruvallavar at Bengaluru and Kannada poet Sarvajna at Chennai was taken during the BJP rule in Karnataka. He said, both Tiruvallavar and Sarvajna were great poets, who advocated liberal values in their literary works. It was essential to translate the works of these poets into Hindi and other north Indian

languages, he said.

Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa, Member of Rajya Sabha Ayanur Manjunath and Shivamogga MLA K.B. Prasanna Kumar were present.
