Girls outdo boys in exams

Girls have performed better than boys in poorly performing districts in the SSLC examinations this year. According to official information available for the 12 districts which were ranked last in overall performance, in all these districts, it was the girls who saved the day. In the 12 districts, including Bengaluru North, Ballari and Dharwad, 87.71 per cent of girls who appeared were successful in the SSLC examination, where as only 82.12 per cent of boys were successful. In Yadgir, Pooja Sharanappa Krishnapur, a student of Shah Maganlal Jain School, emerged as the topper in the district by scoring 613 out of 625 marks.
