Pranita Sunil Mehta (21) of Jodhpur in Rajasthan died near the Lighthouse at Gokarn in Kumta taluk on Sunday, according to reports on Monday. She slipped into the sea from a boulder.
She had come to Gokarn on a tour with four friends, after visiting Mumbai and Goa.
Her friends called fishermen in the vicinity for help but the latter could only recover the body from the sea.
Gokarn police have registered a case.
They have informed the parents of Pranita about the incident.
